It is my job to help you find the answers you are seeking — you have the answers within yourself. Trauma Therapy, and especially EMDR, can help connect the dots. There are tools we can add to your toolbox that will support emotional regulation and increase your ability to respond how you want to in the face of difficulty, even if deeper trauma work isn’t what you need right now.
In our first session together, we will spend time getting to know each other better. I want to learn more about the reasons you are seeking therapy, your internal strengths and gifts, your external supports, your personal history, and your family history. We will soon start to explore exercises that will open up your window of distress tolerance so that the deeper trauma work will feel tolerable.
When we have identified the specific, targeted memories you would like to work through and you are ready to move into the reprocessing phase of EMDR, you can expect to feel prepared and secure in your ability to handle that work. After all, the worst has already happened–you are now here to tell the tale. I will guide you through all eight phases of EMDR until the difficult memory no longer holds the power it once did, and the positive insights you have gained are able to be generalized to that specific event as well as other life experiences.

“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies–God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
– Kurt Vonnegut
